SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol that is used to connect to a web server and conduct various tasks via a command line. The protocol is used by many expert users, since the info transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access could be used for lots of things with regards to the type of hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is among the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file in case the server permits it. If you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH may be used for virtually everything - you may install software or restart particular services including the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is employed mainly with UNIX-like Platforms, but there are clients which permit you to use the protocol if your computer is running a different Operating System as well. The connection is made on TCP port 22 by default and the remote server always listens for incoming connections on that port though many service providers change it for security reasons.
SSH Telnet in Hosting
SSH access is available with all hosting which we offer you. With some of them, it is included as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade which you can include with just a few clicks from your hosting Control Panel. You can obtain SSH access from the section dedicated to it in which you shall also find the details you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You will be able to choose the password that you shall use and, if required, you will be able to change it with a couple of clicks from the same spot. All the commands which may be used with our shared packages are listed in a help article alongside relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is allowed for your account, you will also be able to upload files through your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
If you get a new VPS server from us, it'll come with full root access and you will be able to connect to the server and to handle everything using an SSH console. The function comes as standard with all packages, so you won't have to allow or upgrade anything. Your web server shall be set up soon after you get it and the minute you get the Welcome e mail with the login information, you can connect through the server’s main IP address and start working. Given that the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts within the physical machine, there will be no restrictions with regards to the commands which you can use. You shall have full root access, so that you may set up and run any application which can work on a Linux hosting server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software running on it.
